Curt Rocca and DCA Partners join efforts for record-breaking fundraising
Roseville, CA – On June 18th, dozens of local business executives gathered to commence the official fundraising season of the Sacramento Capital Cup: a three-day golf tournament in which two teams compete for a $55,000 purse on behalf of their selected charities. Spirits were high as they announced plans to collectively raise a record-breaking $1.5 million for 24 local and national charities and non-profit organizations.
Thanks to more than 2,200 individual donors, the Capital Cup has raised $3.6 million during its four-year history; if the fundraisers meet their goal, the Capital Cup will have raised $5 million over five years.
“The tournament committee raises the fundraising bar every year and every year we are humbled by the perseverance and commitment of the participants to not only step up to the challenge, but to surpass it,” said Capital Cup founder and presenting sponsor Curt Rocca, Managing Partner at DCA Partners. “Over the next three months, each participant will be hitting the phones, emailing friends, and doing everything they can to raise money for causes that are dear to them.”
The Capital Cup is one of the Sacramento-area’s largest single fundraisers, second only to the Big Day of Giving. Thanks to sponsorships and player fees, 100 percent of the money raised goes directly to the charities. In only one week of fundraising for the 2019 season, the Capital Cup has already raised $150,763.
The golf tournament, held September 27-29, will culminate in an awards ceremony in which each participant will present his or her charity with the funds raised. “I’m proud to be fundraising on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this year,” Rocca commented. Over the past four years, Rocca has raised $133,515 for LLS through the Capital Cup. “Earning part of the $55,000 purse would be a bonus because LLS does incredibly important work. Everyone has been or will be touched by cancer at some point in their lives.”
